Has anyone here been prescribed Zoloft? I'm hesitant to start it and would love to hear pros, cons, and side effects you had. Thanks in advance šŸ’“

iā€™ve been on zoloft for abt two years now. at first it did a really good job, then i was suddenly taken off of it cold turkey, and once i got back on it wasnt the same. iā€™ve now worked my way up to the max 25mg dose because we knew it worked chemically, but environmentally it gets dampened down a lot. im now on the 25mg zoloft and have just started a low dose of wellbutrin to hopefully boost it.

I was on it last year for a few months then went off. My advice is to REALLY take the side effects seriously. I feel like the doctors prescribe it so easily to you, it almost seems like itā€™s not a big deal. Just do your own research, listen to your intuition if youā€™re feeling scared to take it, & ask questions. It messed me up more than anything getting off it it. I didnā€™t feel like myself for months. But to discourage you from trying to find something that works for you, but also try to find the root of whatā€™s causing your anxiety & go from there! Good luck <3

I'm on week 3 of Zoloft and the first week was rough but I've definitely notice it helped reduce the number of panic attacks I've had and keeps the cycle of anxious thoughts a little quieter. But I'm very open with my PCP and going to get a psychiatrist soon so that everyone is on the same page

I was on it for a while and it help me but eventually i found some other medications that were better for me specifically. I say try and and if it doesnā€™t work keep trying until you find the ones right for you. everyone is different

I donā€™t want to discourage you from tying it, as itā€™s a great first step. It was the first med I ever tried for my anxiety. It takes a long time to work, so be patient, but also watch out for side effects. For me it caused severe nausea, made my ears feel strange, and triggered manic-like symptoms (Iā€™m also Bipolar2). Donā€™t be discouraged if itā€™s not the med for you. Keep trying. If it doesnā€™t work, look into other classes like antipsychotics and mood stabilizers. My mom has OCD and SSRIs work great for her but not for me. Have an open mind, but speak up for yourself if it doesnā€™t feel right. Youā€™ll find something that works, even if itā€™s not the sertraline.
