Since my mental crisis and journey through treatment the last year, I’ve felt a lot more tired and don’t have the same level of energy as I used to. I tend to take naps in the afternoon. I’ve heard an earful from many people that not taking naps improves your sleep, but I’m so exhausted that I just can’t help it. But then I feel guilty for sleeping during the day because maybe I’m perpetuating my own poor sleep quality. Thoughts or similar experiences?

Something my therapist told me recently: that advice is not the same for people who have certain mental or chronic illnesses that impact sleep. It might be better to nap earlier in the day, but if your body is telling you to sleep, you probably need it.

DONT FEEL GUILTY !! sleep is so good for health. recovery from any health condition takes rest in all forms, self care, hobbies, sleep. im starting college again right now after a six month period of isolation partially in the hospital because of some surgeries and stuff. i get the need to feel guilty, but honestly ive learned to just say its nap time when its nap time because my body and mind need that extra rest.
I relate. People tell me that taking naps is good and I need to let myself rest. Then other people tell me that naps mess up your sleep and you shouldn’t take naps. I’m so torn. I don’t know what’s right
I've been super tired too. I sleep about 8 hours on weekdays and 11 on weekends but it always seems like not enough, no matter how much i get. I'm always falling asleep in the afternoons because I can't help it. I don't know how to change this behaviour, and I'd like to know what I can do.
