I just went through a breakup up. I've been missing him a lot lately. It's been about 2 weeks now. My partner broke up with me because they said they needed to work on themselves and come to a place where they can love themselves which I understand because I've been there before. I'm just so confused because they said they weren't even sure if breaking up was a mistake yet but they just needed time. I still really care so much and have spent this whole time apart practicing self care and self love. Does any one have any advice for this kind of a situation?

I know that I can't continue dwelling on anything with that person because it's not healthy for my healing process. I know I can't make excuses for them either or keep feeding false idealations. I'm just sad and greatly miss this person because of how close we were. They were my best friend and I really did imagine so much more for us. I expressed that if they were ever interested in talking that I am open for it so they know that's an option for them. As you said I need to heal though and if they never reach out it wasn't ever meant to be.

Allow yourself to move on. Don't hold out hope that they will come back because it's not a guarantee. They chose to break up with you because they need time to heal themselves, and that process can change what and who they want in life. That could very well mean they don't ever come back to you. Not allowing yourself to fully heal from the breakup - including accepting their absence - will end up hurting you the most.
