Anyone have repeat traumas and symptoms such as insomnia, night terrors, flash backs, disassociation ect. and have had difficulty being diagnosed with PTSD but instead were only diagnosed with a mood disorder?

How does being diagnosed help though? Diagnosis doesn't matter, only treatment matters. Find a therapist specializing in PTSD, that helps a lot. Med-wise PTSD would have treatment similar like a lot of mood disorders or anxiety.

@blueflovver I figured it would be easier to find a therapist specializing in trauma if I had a diagnosis.

@Mimzy idk if you're in US but here diagnosis is done by psychiatrist and you find therapist completely separately from psychiatrist so no, diagnosis won't help you find therapist
