I remember being in shock after my ptsd diagnosis. I didn’t fit the mental picture I had of what someone with ptsd looked like. But ptsd is not one specific thing. It can look and feel a lot of different ways and can happen to anyone. Be gentle to yourself and know that a diagnosis does not define you.

I was exactly the same way. I still feel like an imposter within PTSD if that makes sense. I keep comparing myself to others and saying "Well that makes sense, my trauma doesn't warrant the same thing." it gets easier over time to accept it I think.

I have done TMS (completing this coming week), DBT, EMDR, Reiki, talk therapy, psychiatrist with medication management, a extremely supportive spouse, and a fantastic sister!!!

My best advice is this. Be patient with yourself. Your ptsd is to going to be just like anyone else’s, so try not to compare yourself to anyone else. Healing isn’t linear, it’s all ups and downs and the important thing is that you are learning how to ride those ups and downs with grace instead of letting them toss you around. You’ve got this :)

Look into EMDR therapy! I just started recently and it’s supposed to be really effective.
