I have a peptic ulcer and have a history of having a GI bleed, and bc of that I am prescribed protonix. I still get heartburn from taking pain meds but my main issue is I get a severe flare-up of heartburn pain and nausea every month right around my period. Anyone else get the same? Anyone have any idea as to why my period makes it worse?

Hello! I have a peptic ulcer, and I've been dealing with it/them for almost 5 years. I've had 2 upper endoscopies done about 3 years apart and an ulcer was found both times. After the 2nd one, I was put on more meds and after a few months my symptoms had almost disappeared. But then a few weeks ago I had a migraine that made me throw up (migraines are very common for me) and when I did, I threw up SO. MUCH. BLOOD. So, I was told to keep taking the meds I had been given, but they didn't do anything else. Now I'm constantly worried about it. Especially when I get stomach cramps. Should I do anything about this? What can I do to stop worrying about it so much? How do I know if/when it's healed?

I have had ulcer symptoms ( gnawing stomach at night, some times acid reflux, abdominal heat in my upper stomach and lower intestines area) off and on for years but it has gone a way or rotated those symptoms for sometime also. But I recently have had a period of no symptoms and then after about two months of feeling good. I have slowly had more and more frequencies of those symptoms again. But this time they are mild to where I can usually go back to sleep. I’m confused because I have had a scope back in Nov and it showed no ulcers and I have never had any bleeding , vomiting, blood in stool, or major pain. I have had precancerous polyps removed from my intestines and I have non celiac gluten sensitivity or celiac. They are not sure due to being gluten free for 6 years. I’m lost on how to get these ulcer like symptoms away. I have been on peptic meds or acid reducers and those didn’t seem to make much difference. I don’t really have acid reflux during the day or much at night anymore but still the mild gnawing. I have a restricted diet. I do not eat gluten, eggs, dairy, and no meat besides fish. This is what I feel had reduced the symptoms but now It feels something is still off. I just don’t want to get cancer from this stuff 😞 any suggestions?
