What does it look like on the skin?

The skin can have various appearances depending on the condition. A butterfly/malar rash can look like sun-kissed freckles but red, or it can appear as dark burns across the cheeks/nose. Psoriasis can feel like a reptile shedding its scales and may look like an extra layer of skin on top of your skin in the form of plaques. Dry skin patches can feel like leather and may look like bruises. Tiny red raised bumps that fade in color when pressed could be petechiae. Hyperpigmentation can result in large dark spots on the face that almost look like bruises and the skin can be very dry.
