So, back in December and January I experienced uncontrollable twitching and spasms in my neck causing pain and discomfort and an inability to function and eventually caused seizures and a trip to the ER on New Years (but because of the date and a storm I was just treated as a drug addict seeking attention despite no drugs in my system and no history of drugs and I was ignored and dissmissed). I still don't know what happened as my dr at the time was very dismissive (trying to switch providers but I have been told it'll be over a year before I can be seen). I suspect that it came from the medications my dr had me on and I quit them when the spasms started. I have not taken medication since because of fear of what happened before. I have kids I have to take care of and I need answers or even a direction to go to get answers because I know I need medication, but until I have some explanation as to what happened I don't feel I can trust any drs prescribing medication. So, as an attempt to have a direction to start looking for answers, I'm wondering if any of y'all have ever experienced things like that.

Nothing has happened since. It lasted about 3 weeks of the spasms and the seizures happened for 2 days. This is the first I've heard of serotonin syndrome but after researching it, it fits. Is there any way to get diagnosed after the fact? If those 2 meds together can cause it then I need to speak with my old dr because I never wanted to take prozac but she refused to give me anything for my depression until I took it.

Sounds like a terrible exprience, I’m sorry you had to go through this! I know that using busipirone and Prozac together can cause serotonin syndrome, which can definitely cause seizures. The problem is that it’s diagnosed only by ruling out other conditions. After you stopped taking these meds, has anything like that happened again? If not, maybe it’s more likely it was due to these drugs

At the hospital the only thing they did was a urine test for drugs. Which came back clean. And even then they only repetitively asked what drugs I had done. Which I didn't do any. No dr has taken my concerns seriously.

Do you remember what meds you took at the time? There are many meds that can cause uncontrollable contractions and spasms. It could also be as a result of a combination of different drugs …

I took Prozac and buspirone (not together), and didn’t have those seizures. Were you evaluated by a dr at the hospital? Did they have any speculations?

Buspirone, prozac, and 2 others I can't remember
