I had a thyroid ultrasound on Wednesday and the results were not good. One nodule increased in volume by 100% and I have to have a FNA biopsy. There was also potentially a parathyroid adenoma or incidental lymph node, neither are good. So my nephrologist said that the adenoma would make sense with my nephrocalcinosis, but my labs were normal so she isn't sure. She ordered a sestamibi parathyroid scan. I'm really nervous about both. My half sister had thyroid cancer. The only solace is that thyroid cancer is very treatable, but I worry that if it is cancer, it may have spread to that lymph node (that might be an PT adenoma). I understand the individual results, but I don't know what it means together. If it is an adenoma is that related to the thyroid at all or is it a completely separate condition? I already have more than enough of those. I feel like I collect chronic illnesses as a hobby or something.
