Same. I was actually on hold for an hour and ended up in a hospital later that night. I get they're probably just understaffed but I hope they get better.

Wow this is horrifying to hear. I’m so sorry that people have had these experiences. I wonder if turning to an app like this would have been better 🤔
yea they always gave me terrible advice that made things worse bc they clearly wanted the interaction to be over. hotlines are the worst lol

Alll the time - as a psych student I’ve been told that with COVID and the isolation periods people are getting more depressed from lack of contact and from overall stress
I wasn’t hung up on just rushed through the whole thing , it seemed very unprofessional and did not help
Unfortunately all too common
Oh my goodness!!! I am SO sorry that happened! I haven’t personally had any experience with the suicide hotline- just CRISIS but my heart goes out to you!

I called once and was so annoyed by waiting half an hour that I no longer had the urge to s**f h**m
Yeah, I tried the chat and was on hold for over and a half. 😥
I don't know about other states or countries but in Colorado they have a crisis hotline you can text, 382-55, I've used them probably three times and they've always gotten back to me in less than 5 minutes, even calling emergency services if necessary. I've never tried calling it though
It's because they get so many calls. And yeah, they are understaffed. But I think when the wait time is that long it's pointless for someone who's on the verge of suicide and is reaching out for help. Just saying.
I waited for an hour, I got too shaky and I left before I could reach anybody. It felt embarrassing to sit there waiting..
Oh my gosh!! That’s awful. I haven’t ever called because my anxiety gets too high. I worry they’ll call someone out to the house or something, or that my state of mind isn’t serious enough and they won’t take me seriously. I have someone I trust that I reach out to if it gets bad, and that seems like the best option based on what I’ve heard about the suicide hotline. 😬
It happens a lot. My sadness then turns to anger.

I remember i gave them a call and they actually hung up on me 😅 i don’t discourage people from calling, but I have found that having other people to call helps out a lot too
😥 😥 have y'all tried the app white flag? I do have it downloaded but just been glimpsing at it so far
i waited 4+ hours the time i contacted them. genuinely. i wish i was lying.

I've never made a call cause my anxiety hates phone calls. I have had good luck with text lines though. That really sucks tho

That is crazy! I would be devastated if I had the courage to call and then was not able to talk to anyone.
