Tw// Self harm Ive been trying really hard to stay clean but I relapsed again and Ive had such a good day to which makes me more upset about it. Literally one thing went wrong and I felt like I had no control over anything so I relapsed. I didnt cut this time though so Im proud of that. Ive just been really anxious today especially about my friendships which lead me to relapsing. i just feel like everyone is leaving and the people who arent im pushing away.

The term “clean” can make you feel like the way you are coping is “dirty”. You aren’t dirty, you are hurting. Been there. Friendships are important during this time, I know isolation feels easy right now honey and if you’re like me you think everybody is going to leave you anyway so why not push them away first. There are people that love you and may even be friends you can open up about this. I struggle with isolation and used Bumble BFF to make friends while I was struggling with acrophobia(fear of leaving the house). I recommend that app.

Relapse is a natural part of recovery. It’s good that you’re able to recognize what caused the relapse because now, for the future, you can come up with some coping mechanisms that are suited for that specific event/feeling. It’s a learning process. I recommend talking to your friends about your fears to try and get some closure for your anxiety.

Just take it one day at a time. Don’t focus on how much progress you lost but how you get to start again and maybe next time you’ll make it further than before! I’ve been clean for almost 8 years and trust me that it does get better
