I tried explaining this to my therapist, but I dont think he understood. I have problems with getting absolutely obsessed with something and then one day I'll drop it and move on to another obsession. I really wanna go back to watching that one show or playing that one game but I just CANT! I get distracted, I lose motivation, and I just get upset because I can't get myself to do it anymore.

I do this all the time because of my ADHD. It really is quite awful to be hyperfixated on something and then be completely unable to get back to it. Some advice given to me recently is to not think of it as losing an interest but rather cycling through interests, as I'm not sure if it's the case with you, but for me I'll often cycle through a large list of interests that I'll become obsessed with and then drop a week later. Sharing common interests with another person was also a great tip given to me on the topic of staying interested in hobbies/interests. Although I definitely understand the overall frustration of losing the passion to do something when you really want to

I do the exact same thing it’s so annoying! It took me 3 years to get back into painting I did it obsessively for two months and now I want nothing to do with it again. there has to be a name for it
