Any advice or ideas on how to get motivated to clean and do chores? I’ve got no motivation or energy.. reeeally low dopamine type of day. The mess in my apartment has gotten so so bad and it’s making my other mental health issues worse honestly :’) And yet I can’t seem to make myself do it??? Idk. It’s just overwhelming. I’ve tried writing out a very simple list with the steps broken down. It’s not even everything that needs to get done! Just the easy stuff.. but agh. Idk. Advice would be very much appreciated 💕

you did the first step in noticing the need to clean, just take it in small steps, try making it a game or challenge and listen to some good music. I've tried TV or a movie in the background, but that never ends well.

@hellotou I keep seeing people say make it a game, but do you have any examples on how? :o

Look into reading the book How to Keep House While Drowning by KC Davis. I haven't read it yet bc it's always out at my library but it's on my list. I've seen some of her videos on tiktok and she has some great advice.

"Making cleaning a fun game, setting aside time to do household chores in a way that it's more inconvenient not to do them, and rewarding oneself for doing chores are some strategies suggested. Starting small, like picking up a few items or cleaning a small portion of the room, can also help. Some people find motivation by blasting music that makes them want to move and do things. Others suggest starting from one side of the room or a corner, and seeing progress in that area can motivate them to continue. Taking it step by step, such as tidying the bed one day and getting rid of food wrappers the next, is another approach."
