Hey friends! I have chronic GI conditions and obstructions. I just found out that when I get home from the hospital, I’ll be on TPN and just able to consume full liquids, if anything, for the next several months (if not more). I am petrified that I am going to slip back into my eating disorder when all I can have is smoothies and ensure. I need variety!!! Like no one can do that and be mentally fine, never mind someone that’s struggled with an eating disorder more than half of her life. Does anyone have any suggestions: varieties of full liquids, tips?? Thank you in advance!

@shes_gut_issues I don't know if your doctor's know of any support groups they're going through exactly what you're going through. Sometime when people have cancer of certain parts of their body then their support groups for that

Is applesauce and pudding an option for you or is that too much of a solid ?

Does your doctor know your issues especially about eating disorders? Did you ask them for suggestions? Eating disorders is also a mental situation that needs to be taken care of. Are you seeing a doctor for that? Are you going to be on depression medicine to avoid depression while you're in the situation? Remember this is to help your insides heal and you said it was temporary. So think of the future that you could be able to eat differently. But if you don't follow the doctor's orders you're going to have a super serious problem

@Unknow so this is not necessarily temporary..if it works, I’d have to live with it for the rest of my life. We are trialing it, but if it is the only thing that works, I have to continue this diet. And I have tried a lot of different things and have had 12 surgeries to try and fix things, all not being as successful as we would like and I still end up in the hospital at least once a month. And oh yes-I’ve definitely told the doctors about my past ED, and I’m very open with them about my past struggle. I’ve been doing really well with it the past two years-no behaviors since early 2020. I’m just afraid that even though I’m doing well with it and have been actually enjoying food, I’m going to slip backwards when I am so limited with what I can consume. And yes, I’m on several depression meds and I do Electroconvulsive therapy. I also see therapists and psychiatrists. I know I need to follow the doctors orders but I feel like this is going to be hard on me especially if it is long term.
