I wasn't diagnosed bulimic but I'm here to get opinions from people who are -- I think I might have bulimia. I started a medication in late 2021 that caused a lot of nausea and vomiting -- the med kind of treats your body like you've had gastric bypass, so I would eat a normal amount that my body could handle before I started the med and unintentionally end up throwing up. This usually happened every day after dinner, because I couldn't seem to stop myself from eating the whole plate and end up overdoing it, but I didn't throw up on purpose, at least at first. Around December/January I decided to start dieting to lose weight and hopefully fix my every severe body image issues and my daily routine became no breakfast, a very small lunch, and a huge dinner that I would purge. I would feel guilty about eating and purging would help ease that. lost 15 pounds before the beginning of May, when finals and graduation became too much and I decided to stop dieting. I stopped watching my calories, I stopped throwing up. I even stopped feeling guilty. My mindset completely changed. But when school was done and I decided to resume my diet, the guilt all came back and it's even worse now. My tolerance to the medicine that made me sick changed so I will find myself going out of my way to make myself sick so I can throw up, or else I'll kick myself all day for eating too much. The reason I think I might Not have bulimia. I have a friend that struggled for a very long time with anorexia and bulimia and she described it as an addiction that's very difficult to stop. She went to a rehab to get better and struggled for years, but I was just able to let it go by telling myself I was already too stressed to handle a diet. Any advice?

That sounds like bulimic behaviors but for me it is like an addiction, too. You should be proud of yourself that you’ve made progress towards more healthy eating habits but make sure you get the support you need and deserve so it does not become a long-term issue!!

this sounds like bulimia to me, too. definitely do not compare yourself to others, everyone one of us is unique with our life paths, experiences, and emotions. I was also able to stop quite “easily” but the problem is relapses that occur if you don’t treat it properly. good luck and DM me please if you need any support or have some questions! 🤗

It definitely sounds like bulimia and the best advice I have is don't compare yourself to your friend just focus on your own recovery. Wishing you luck 😊
