I stopped working on my novel that I wanted to get done before the end of November and now I can't find the energy to get started on it again. it isn't that I'm not writing, quite the contrary. I'm actually writing a bunch of flash fiction for a compilation. I just can't seem to find the want to go back to the novel and it is killing me.

That’s what happens with ADHD and it’s not like you’re failing. While you set a deadline for yourself, it may just not feel as urgent as a deadline, and that’s okay. You WILL get motivation to go back to it, so don’t go down the rabbit hole of unnecessary stress that comes from trying to motivate yourself internally because OOWEE, that has a very low success rate with ADHD.

Awe I'm sorry! But that's ambitious to write a novel, have you done one before?!

im sorry! personally if im stressing about something it makes me want to do it less. sort of a cycle of “oh i need to do x” “well now that i feel pressured i dont want to do x.”

@ashdolly55 Usually a deadline gets me moving and motivated, but now it just looms and makes me feel like a failure. I guess that is the difference in something you have to do vs what you want to do

@SoxyWoxy maybe try to disconnect yourself from everything a few days. Write what EVER you want. Keep it there as something if you want to you can but no pressure. A vacation of sorts. But then make a going back to work day after that. Make sure to give yourself the rest and refreshment you need though.
