Hi, TW for unsafe-to-self talk!! Please be careful. I’ve talked to my psychiatrist recently, and during my jumbled up talk I eventually told her I recently self injured. But what was difficult to explain was why it happened. I dont even know myself and I didn’t feel any better or worse after, I didn’t feel bad even before it happened. I wasn’t dissociative at the time I don’t think, I just did it. It’s been months since I’ve done that in general. I also forgot I did in the first place, I get shocked when I feel the area hurt. Anyone else had this problem? It’s made me feel a little embarrassed since usually I can find reason and explain what I do but this time I couldn’t and it felt like I was lying, but I wasn’t and the marks are there. any good input is appreciated

Ik it's a serious topic but I just find it funny that the same thing happened to me literally not very long ago. I thought it a bit odd because... I haven't done this in a long while nor felt the need to in while either. I didn't feel negative either, but all of a sudden I got a very strong urge to do it. Afterwards I felt the exact same as I did before I started doing it... calm. The desire to sh just came and left like a ghost.

Sounds similar to when I bite my nails or pull my hair. I don't think about doing it, I just do it instinctively. It's become second nature to do so. Try putting the items you use to self-harm in a place that isn't easy to access. Whether it's high up a shelf, a locked box, etc. Hopefully, that should give you enough time to realize what you're doing and stop yourself since you're putting in so much effort to get them in the first place
