I got my first total hip replacement (left hip) at 15 years old , I'm due to get another one next month, I'm also an amputee. My other doctors wouldn't listen to me a couple years ago, when I told them that I needed to get my hip done again because of the pain. Now due to the fact that we(meaning my old doctors)waited so long to get it revised, I'm facing the possibility of losing all mobility in my hip after I get it replaced. I'll be going to inpatient rehabilitation for 2 weeks then doing out-patient afterwards. Also this is my first surgery I'll have to go through alone, I've never stayed in the hospital alone before. The doctor wants it done ASAP. My anxiety and depression are getting the best of me. I'd appreciate any advice. Thank you

One user suggested seeking more doctor's opinions and not giving up. Another user recommended considering a teaching hospital if one is available in your area, as they had a positive experience with a specialist at such a facility. It was also mentioned that recovery from hip replacement can be tough but tolerable, especially in the first few weeks.
