Professional vs Self Diagnosis: What's Your Experience?

I was diagnosed with Oppositional Defiant Disorder as a child, and autism in my teens.

I started suspecting when I was 12, was professionally diagnosed at 18

Suspected by psych, testing to follow soon.

I'm self diagnosed. After 3 years of research, although, I don't feel fully comfortable enough with telling people I have autism because there is still some doubt in my mind.
