I'm facing a port as a serious treatment option for my POTS. Multiple meds have failed me, this is the last resort. Is it sore after placement? Can you change the needle yourself? How effective has it been for your treatment? Anything else I should know?

The surgery for port placement is described as very simple and outpatient, with a few days of soreness afterwards. It's not specified whether you can change the needle yourself. For some people, having a port has been extremely helpful in managing POTS, especially when medications have failed. They've been able to increase their hydration treatments and live more comfortably. However, there are concerns about the central line getting infected over time.
