I hate that my hobbies have turned into a chore. I used to be excited to draw or read or run- but now everything feels like so much effort. Not only that but I’m critical of myself if I do end up trying the hobby again. Perfectionism is ruining my joy.

I used to be a live to work kind of person but I’ve found that I was much happier just existing. When the pandemic started (in the US) I went on furlough for two months and spent so much time outdoors and picking up different hobbies, I started a bullet journal even. two years later of being back to working full time and I now don’t do any of those things except the bullet journal and it’s no longer fun for me and a chore again. My free time is all spent on my phone, watching tv or sleeping trying to decompress enough to want to do a hobby but never getting there

I feel that way towards some of my hobbies too. But for me I feel better after I do them. You could also try doing your hobbies with a friend or pet, if they make you feel better. Learning to feel positive when doing hobbies can be a struggle. Some things I used to like still feel like a chore
