Is anyone else going through a Mixed Episode despite being on their medication??šŸ˜šŸ§ My doctor told me to ā€œtough it outā€ but Iā€™m getting worse yet Iā€™m consciously aware of it worsening because Iā€™ve been taking my medication consistentlyā€¦the Mixed Episode was induced by stress from finding a tumor in my breast. Now Iā€™m fine physically but mentally Iā€™m declining. Iā€™m on the max dose of Abilify, and Iā€™m in Carbamazepine for a Mood Stabilizer, I also take Gabapentin for Anxiety. Is there ANYTHING else I can do??? I feel like there are bugs crawling under my skin, I canā€™t afford marijuana, and I need advice. Please, if you have Bipolar Disorder 1 reach out and give me suggestionsā€¦I am DESPERATE.

Hi, I was just going to ask if you have any go-to coping techniques you rely on. Maybe doing some tapping or breath and grounding work might help. I like to sing and do origami to get myself centered. Do you have any hobbies you can try to throw your energy into? Also, some people use journaling as a way to help them vent their feelings and thoughts, especially when they're conflicted and intense. If you see a counselor, I would encourage you to try to increase your appointments, or at least consistently attend them, so you have a safe place to check in and process what your going through right now. I think the most important thing to keep in mind is that this too shall pass. Regardless of what may have triggered this mixed mood, all feelings are temporary, and you will come out the other side of this. I wish you the best and am sending you good energy.

Hello! I do not have bipolar I I have bipolar type II so I am not the best advice but I can offer you a little bit more advice from someone who is on the bipolar spectrum with you! One thing iā€™ve noticed about bipolar disorder is how it wants to creep up at the most completely inconvenient and miserable times in our lives and medication only acts as a bandaid to the symptoms most of the time! For this reason start relying more heavily on coping mechanisms if you have learned any from a therapist (if not you can DM me and I can give you some examples of the ones I use) but just know medication is not always going to be a fix for all solution and I know thatā€™s probably one of the most difficult things with these types of conditions, but also do not stop taking them either. And if you are able to I would say take some time off work/school for yourself and focus on developing a routine as routines consistency can also help manage these symptoms!
