What triggered your first episode? For me It was losing my marriage and my identity as a wife. I didn’t know any way of life and I refused to believe I would be divorced. When I saw it all fall apart it was like a trauma and I went severely manic.

My first episode was brought on by being prescribed zoloft for depression. It made me sky high manic and threw me all out of whack. Once they figured out it was bipolar and not just depression, I was placed on seroquel, I've been fine since, except for a couple episodes throughout the years. I'm on the high end of the bipolar spectrum, and rarely depressed, so the zoloft sent me through the roof.

My first depressive episode was in the army when I was getting out soon, first mania was about a year after I got out of the army. Triggered by identity problems and untreated adhd.

I don't remember my first episode but that's because I have always been over emotional or quick to anger especially as a teenager

I don't recall my first episode. I was just reminiscing... I recall risky behavior and sneaking out of my house as a teenager... So my symptoms go way back, but I don't remember when they started.
