Insulin pump transition… should I trust that the algorithm will “learn” my patterns and adapt to my body?

Short answer: yes. Longer answer: it will take time and you’ll have to wait out some very imperfect blood sugars, but my experience thus far is that over time, your pump will give you more stable levels (as in less sudden extreme highs and lows) even if they aren’t perfectly in range.
For anyone who doesn’t know what a closed loop is, it’s when your CGM connects to your pump and changes the insulin rate based on your blood sugar
Type one diabetic here, I’ve had a closed loop for over a year and it’s changed my life for the better. It won’t necessarily “learn” your patterns, but it will help control your blood sugar a lot better if you run high or low a lot. My blood sugars were in the 300’s most of the time before I had a closed loop, and now they’re almost always below 160. It’s a life changing thing and I 100% recommend it if you have a pump :)
