TRIGGER WARNING: !!!LANGUAGE!!! Soooo i just got an insulin pump for the first time in about 10 years. Started it about a week ago. Medtronic 780G and Guardian 4 combo. Previous to that i was giving injections, but had the Dexcom G7 sensors. Lemme tell you, this f*****g thing has me swearing like a sailor. Honestly it’s just the sensor I’m having issues with. I can’t get it to read accurately for sh!t. I wish i could post screenshots…. Having to check my BG every half hour ish to make sure I’m not plummeting ugh. The first one i put on SEEMED to calibrate after like 8hrs, so i stopped regularly checking. But honestly now I’m not sure. Anyway, today it failed, a day and a half early, which irritated me. I removed it, and put on a new one (which is a pain in the a** i may add, so many steps…) and for the first time in my life when inserting a sensor of any kind (or injection, or site for that matter) it instantly spewed blood g*****n everywhere and KEPT bleeding when i pulled it out for a minute or two. I’m talking enough blood to make a 5in across puddle on the ground. So sensor wasted, and I’m starting to get very mad at this point. I tried again, no blood this time, so i hooked it all up and taped it down. Then a 2 f*****g hour warmup before i started getting readings (standard for this sensor, but seems like a ridiculously long time to me) and at this point I’m like 3 hours into this ordeal, and it’s past midnight. I check my BG with a meter to “calibrate” it. And again 25 mins later to check the “calibration”. BOOM. Meter reads 50 below what the sensor is reading. Calibrate again. Repeat like 5 or 6 times with 20ish mins between each. Every time, off by 30-50ish mg/dL. Sometimes above, sometimes below. 3ish “calibrations” in i started using 2 different brand meters each time to make sure that’s not my issue. And it’s not. They read within 5 mg/dL of each other every time. This ENTIRE time since this ordeal started, i have not consumed a single gram of carbs. I wash my hands before each meter check. I’ve followed the instructions for setup of pump and sensor setup EXACTLY. I had a VERY good trainer when i did the initial setup. I cannot fathom what the actual F**K is going wrong. For reference, I’ve used both Dexcom G6 for a loooooong time and G7 since it came out until last week. Neither one did i trust initially, but both read within 15 mg/dL of meter checks EVERY TIME and without calibration at that. Insertion of both (especially G7) was wayyyyyy easier, and they VERY rarely failed early, and only a few hours if so. I could go on and on about things that irritate me about this Medtronic setup. Less than a week in and I’m at my f*****g wit’s end. If you actually took the time to read this long a** post and you have any experience with my current setup, I would be absolutely THRILLED to hear ANY advice you have. You can comment or message me directly. One last thing: there’s a warranty on my setup, so i have some time to switch systems if i so choose. I have a friend with the Tandem and G6 combo setup, and she likes it (mostly). The only downside to that one (and the same with the OmniPod and G6 combo setup) is that the site has to be changed way more frequently than the sensor, whereas Medtronic they’re (supposed to be) both 7 day life things. So there’s that. Please comment which system you use, and also be encouraged to comment what you like and don’t like about it. Much love to you all for reading this ridiculously long post, and thanks in advance for any and all input.

Since your less then 30days in you have the option to return it. And you won't be stuck in a 4 year commitment. They will also fully refund you or your insurance whoever paid. Tandem is a awesome alternative. I have seen and heard great things about it. I love my Omnipod 5. And I feel so free with it. I hate medtronic as well. I got stuck in my 4 year warentee at first but once it was over I will never go back.

@K9 thanks! I saw my endo today. She gave me a few tips to make it easier. She also said if I’m still having trouble in a week or two we’ll look into other options!
