shows: i really like rewatching animated shows for comfort shows — The Owl House is by far my favorite (it’s also one of my special interests and I can recite lines from it by heart), but I also am a big fan of Dead End: Paranormal Park, Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts, Infinity Train, Amphibia, and Helluva Boss (note Helluva Boss is adult animation, while the rest are family friendly). stims: it’s really basic but flapping is my main happy/neutral-mood stim and it’s so good

My fav stim is slightly dancing when I'm happy☺️ and my fav thing is my new pikachu stuffy☺️ and my fav show rn is Atypical when at mom's and modern family when at my aunt's house

I rewatch shows a lot and I love the weighted dinos from target. I stim a lot also mainly tapping my fingers, bouncing my legs, or rocking back and forth.
I always have a pen in my hand. I also stim to YouTube videos
I need to watch the travel channel every day. I also love mlp and I watch it when I feel blehhh. Also making lattes for myself makes me instantly happier

SQUISHMALLOWS. i have somg bigger ones that i love to hug if i’m upset or something. and my biggest media comfort rn is the game genshin impact! it’s become a special interest of mine and it makes me feel so calm :)
For me it is drawing. I can draw anything and I will feel calm and happy. Also having pillows with kpop groups as cases are definitely helping me be calm
My comfort movies rotate between Wall-E (current), Treasure Planet, and Trolls. My stims are rubbing things, whether it's my sleeves or an object or my own hands. I wrap my fingers up in things, like figure 8 around my fingers, again usually my sleeves or string or something. I also crochet, knit, and do balloon art 💕

When I've had a long day my back is sore and I still need to get a lot done I sing John Henry the Disney cartoon, Singing in general helps me with lots of things, frustration, fear, hopelessness, loneliness, pain, temper, nausea, confidence, It works for songs I'm confident with, if I don't know the words it tune then, it doesn't help when I'm in a rough patch, though puzzling out remembering words it learning new songs can be fun when I have time. Most of the time I'm busy and can't stop to look up the words or relisten to get the tune
@Shrek97 Hymns, Disney songs, patriotic songs, Christian rock, country, movie soundtracks, theme songs, and any other song, But I notice that ones with good uplifting messages are extra good for rough days Sometimes I think of media like the food pyramid, sometimes I want sci-fi, other times I want humor, or heartwarming, or informative, self help, study, fantasy, historical, etc, audio books, podcasts, music, singing, movies, conversation, I self medicate through headphones so the time, probably would be healthier to rest and hang out more, but not always an option
Adventure time is really comforting especially the Jake the Brick episode. I also have a few soft pillows, clothes, and stuffed animals that are comfy as well hot coco or mint tea
Something that always helps at the very least is being in my room. Just quiet and alone and under my covers. Like it's just so calming compared to all the stress outside. I also have a doll that I cuddle with and every time I hold him I just feel all my stress wash away. It feels embarrassing at 21 so very few people know about it 😭but it works😂 also yes YouTube is great. ASMR or just anything funny is great for distraction. Stories on AO3 are also great. Like just being able to immerse yourself in a story, it makes me completely forget about everything else.
When I get really excited about something I do a stim I call "vibrating", where I'll just shiver in my arms and sometimes my neck with closed fists 😂 I've known my ADHD boyfriend for such a long time that I've forgotten if one of us picked it up from the other or if we've both done it since before we met, but it's nice to have someone I feel totally at ease with. For my comforts, I tend to rewatch shows and YouTube videos in the background, and play some of my favorite peaceful games like Animal Crossing or Stardew Valley ❤️

I also love stuffed animals and blankets, and listening to my favorite songs on repeat
@Frog333 I'm also a frog 💚

The documentary “fantastic fungi” is my favorite documentary!!!! It’s so interesting and calming! And my happy stims are usually me flapping my hands or jumping and spinning:)

@Frog333 That sounds interesting! I loved watching deep sea documentaries from a YouTube channel called Natural World Facts!
@royalty I love deep sea documentary’s!! One of my special interests is the ocean! I’ll check out that channel:)
I like to draw or write. Mainly write! A regular stim I have when I'm sitting in bed is just rocking back and fourth a lot. It's fun, even if it's a cliche mad person thing-
@SpaceFreak I always rock back and forth as a stim!
I LOVE giant stuffed animals. I have a big duck I got when I was really little and an elephant I got just recently and they are so calming to just hug and squeeze if I'm anxious or upset and my boyfriend is at work. I also like really tiny stuffed animals. I have a small pink rabbit I put on my disability lanyard so I can fidget and squeeze it with my hands if my social anxiety gets bad. All in all my best comfort is my boyfriend. I haven't had a panic attack in quite some time all thanks to him.
@royalty Also my current comfort show is Mountain Monsters
@royalty I've never heard of mountain monsters! and can you elaborate what you mean by disability lanyard and what you have on it??
I actually made a 'safety list', I heard a youtuber talk about it...when you feel unsafe (emotionally) or overwhelmed you maybe can't think of your comforts in that moment so you can go to your list to be reminded. My list is: the simpsons, king of the hill, heating pad, being in bed, dim lights, overlooking a landscape (to feel more in control and like the world is less significant), nature, animals, making a list, small spaces, self hugging, a good warm meal. As far as stimming I flip my pen all the time but it doesn't necessarily make me feel better.
@ItsJustARide I've made a similar list of comfort media and such!! includes movies, books, shows, songs, etc! I also have a playlist for "stimmy" songs, and also one for songs that feel like a hug
Watching YouTube or coloring and playing with Legos, popcorn, watching I almost got away with it
The movie Coraline. I’ve loved it since I was 4 and I can recite the whole movie start to finish :)
@I_I !! I love Coraline! definitely a comfort movie for me too. I want to read the book so bad!!

@enbypup it’s so good!! The book has some scenes that were too intense for the movie that are really good!
the tv show bones!! the main character displays a lot of ASD symptoms (as do some of the other characters) and it’s really comforting to watch because the show is very much a found family show.

@Solar_Eclipse I love it for the same reason! Seeing someone like Brennen on TV has always comforted me a lot.
@Solar_Eclipse found family shows are some of the best!! I might have to check out that show :)
Molang is my comfort show and I have a few stims I do when I'm happy but I can't remember what I do
@reptar Molang is amazing :)
Plushies are a huge comfort item for me. I have one or two I'll cling onto more than others because I'm so indecisive, but they always are there for me when I feel no one else is. I also watch old cartoons that comforted me growing up like SpongeBob, Pucca, and almost any early 2000s shows! For stims, I mainly just dance to upbeat music (Pop, punk-rock, etc.) that I can't stay still for when I hear it lol
5
@CandyFrog I didn’t know anyone else knew Pucca!!! I used to watch it as a kid it was my fav, where do you watch it? I really need to rewatch it

@randochikn They have full episodes on YouTube! That's where I watch them. They also have a new version of it on Netflix that's more cgi, but I haven't watched it yet. But the original episodes are all on YouTube for free!
@CandyFrog yes I love plushies too! I have a few small ones that I like to keep in my bag when I go places, because I'm always scared to lose my favorites!!
I have a stuffed cat that my partner gave me, and they spray it with their cologne whenever I ask. I also have an incredibly large and soft blanket that I am eternally wrapped in. I like to lay on my side and kinda rock side to side for a stim, and my current comfort movie is HOP. Its a kids easter movie, but it is good :)

@Lil_Prince I LOVE HOP SO MUCH!! it's one of my comfort movies too!! I feel like no one knows about it :O
I love reading a manga series called Fruits Basket. It's very comforting to me. Along with watching MASH & being curled up under my comforter
@KatieKitKat I remember (trying to) watch fruits basket on YouTube when I was younger. I've been wanting to watch it properly!!
@enbypup you'll want the Hulu version cuz its closer to the characters & closer to the series
@KatieKitKat I have that manga series in Japanese! I wanted to learn Japanese for a looonngg time so I have some manga series in the language, unfortunately I haven’t read it very much yet but that is cool!!
I have a book I love as comfort I often read, its called Anne of Green Gables (it’s from the 1900’s and its about an “eccentric” young orphan girl, she definitely kind of represents someone with ASD! There’s also a show called Anne with an E on Netflix very similar to the books, based off of it but not the same), I have a blankie I’ve had since I was born that I cuddle and hold when I’m at home in my bed, and I often rewatch movies and tv shows I’ve already seen (it varies on mood, all are on Netflix) that’s pretty much all my comforts!!
@randochikn I personally believe Hercule Poirot (an Agatha Christie detective) is autistic so I definitely relate to this feeling with various characters 🥰
@randochikn I LOVE rewatching shows and movies, as that's a big comfort of mine too!
