hi! this has nothing to do with any disorder. I just wanted to share something. my niece is two now almost three and when she was born I wanted to do what's best for her. when she was about a few months old, I started learning all about gentle parenting since I babysit her every Saturday (my parents are there too but they think they don't have too do anything pretty much lol) and it's been working pretty good! I made a calm down corner thing in my spinny chair in my room. it has a (I think) 10lb weighted blanket and a tv dinner tray table thing that has a notebook with markers and paint, fidgets, her favorite toy and it's in a quiet room. I love this so much andf for us, its better than using time outs. I got to use it today and it helped so much! she was upset because she couldn't play with a toy because it was potty time. so I just put her in the chair and let her play with the fidget toys and when she calmed down, she used the potty. and I'm just really proud of her and myself (mostly her). I'm excited to use the calm down chair more and I plan on getting an actual child's weighted blanket so its not too heavy and crush her or something. anyways its just something that made me happy and I thought was amazing :)

@chronicwitch, I feel like my experiences as an autistic person has made it easier to help identify what would help kiddos be safe. I like to do the "well if I was her I would love __" "if I was her I would feel __"

I love this so much. Kids often don’t get anything out of time out or being yelled at or anything. It’s amazing that you’re helping so much and you’re not even the parent. Kids (well, adults too) need safe spaces

That’s such a great idea! I am so glad it’s working out for you both! Great job!
