Struggling with Digestion After Gallbladder Removal

So a few years ago I had my gallbladder removed due to gallstones and ever since I’ve had problems eating pretty much anything. I knew the procedure would affect my digestion but even when going on no-fat healthy diets I get a lot of abdominal pain and diarrhea. Recently after going off my metformin for a while I realized it might be linked to the medicine as going off it decreases the pain and bathroom problems by a lot. Has anyone else had this? If so what has helped you? My doctor says this isn’t common and has suggested trying insulin injections instead of the pills but I’m not sure if it’ll help.. Ive been like this for a few years now.

I’ve been on metformin for about two years now for PCOS. my only symptom I ever had was awful diarrhea! I noticed it mainly would occur with dairy products or high healthy fat foods/meals. I get the abdominal pain as well and it feels like severe gas pains almost. I stopped taking metformin, and most of those issues went away. My doctor said it’s incredibly common!

Oh! Thank you so much for letting me know! Did they ever give you any alternatives?

No problem! They actually didn’t. But I was able to reverse my insulin resistance by diet and exercise so they didn’t see an issue with me stopping it. My fingers are crossed for you and I wish you the best of luck!
