How do I feel more like my age? I feel like I'm mentally 14/15 forever even though I'm 19. I do adult things, I'm a senior in college, I interact with me peers and other adults perfectly well, I can completely take care of myself. All of these adult behaviors come natural to me, but also, I've been an "adult" since I was 5. I've never not been "mature for my age" and "self reliant." Some part of me just still feels like a kid pretending to be an adult.

Oh man that's a real mood for me specifically. As a system we have this problem because my audhd clearly has us delayed. But I'm an alter who is 11 years old, I feel 11, act 11 sometimes, and regularly react poorly to adult stress. However I've been 11 for 13 years, in many ways im NOT 11 and since part of my lines formation came from my twin alter constantly being told they're too immature I behave and function as an adult and always have. I went to high school, so did some of our toddlers, I went to college, I've applied for and worked jobs, i purchase weed and alchohol by myself regularly, I take care of animals and children, I make drs appointments for the whole house, *I'm* the alter that even applies for the health insurance and other serious paperwork half the time! So im usually considered an adult by my system and partner system. But I'm 11 and really the only thing to do with that is remind myself when things get too much that im not a failure because I struggle, we just have some delays, and so do many people and that's okay, everyone does things at their own pace and some people need a little extra time or help.

A senior in college at 19? You must’ve started early! I feel like that internal youthfulness feeling is really common amongst autistic people, especially those of us with trauma, so that’s something to keep in mind, but I also wonder if we’re *actually* immature or if society just kinda lied to us about what acting/feeling our age looks like, if that makes sense. But as a 23 year old who feels closer to 17 or 18 now, and used to feel about 12, don’t worry; you’ll make progress and good things can still happen. For what it’s worth, most adults feel like they’re pretending to be grownups.

Prayers! 💕 God is with you! Maybe trying more things that teenagers do will help. I tried this and I realized I didn’t care to live a life the average teenager does

Many people experience feelings of not being their actual age. Some individuals in their 20s still feel like they're 18, while others in their 30s or 40s may mentally feel like they're still in their 20s. This feeling can be due to various factors such as mental health issues, stress, or past traumatic experiences. It's important to remember that everyone matures at their own pace and it's okay to feel this way. You are not alone in these feelings.
