Does anyone else feel like other people lead way more exciting lives than you? If so, how do you cope? My friends are regularly up to something impressive (e.g. championship sports, cycling tours, work accomplishments, partying, etc) and I rarely leave my house outside of work, don’t have any crazy stories, or accomplishments of note.

absolutely. i feel like my pain has limited my life in so many ways. i feel like i never got a chance to be a child or a teenager in a way. i couldn’t do sleepovers or birthday parties as a kid. i couldn’t do sports or actual parties as a teen. i try my best to do what i can to maintain what i feel like is a “normal” life so getting a full time job has helped me but it was and continues to be hard. after work i don’t have much energy at all so i spend most of my time at work or at home but i’m trying harder to make new friends and go out more and such.

I think all that matters is if you do things that make you happy. What other people do-- it might not be for you. Being impressive isn't as valuable long term as just being happy

Absolutely! I have to remind myself that it’s ok that I have fewer “spoons” than they do or that I spend my spoons differently. (If you don’t know the spoon theory, look it up, I love the visual it provides) I try to make sure my work is fulfilling and that my spaces are happy so even if I don’t get out a lot bc health, finances, energy, etc get in the way, I can find joy or at least contentment most of the time with where I am.

100% it makes me feel like I don't have my life together.
