anyone with epilepsy gotten their wisdom teeth out? i'm worried about how the anesthetic/laughing gas and pain relief prescribed post op (usually vicodin or hydrocodone) would potentially interact with keppra or lower my seizure threshold. i don't really trust my neurologist or doctor to answer this because they'll give me the go ahead for just about anything as long as it lines their pockets. any advice or resources would be so so appreciated:)

I might be late, but my wisdom tooth experience was pre-meds and I was too out of it and lethargic for any big flare ups. I don’t know about drug interaction, but I do know that about two years ago (while on keppra) I had laughing gas for a brutal root canal (a previous root canal made me decide I never want to be conscious during one again, I still have nightmares seven years later) and I was completely fine. The antibiotics didn’t interact either to my knowledge. This isn’t like, the best testimony since I sleep a LOT post surgery or heavy anesthetic, so I wouldn’t have been conscious during a lot of the period I was recovering.

I had lidocaine and only got two out at a time to lessen the risk of seizures.

hey! i’ve had a lot of dental work done recently. All of my dental work was done with local anesthetic, so i don’t know if it’s the same situation. I do take keppra and have had epilepsy for 5 years. I don’t reall any issues or interactions i had pre or post surgery. that includes the anesthetic and as for the post meds, i would see if maybe you can tolerate just taking an over the counter ?
