I’m not sure if I should put a TW but I will Cause I don’t wanna be insensitive to others. I just had a question.. How would you know if you have an ED ? And who would you talk to? I Don’t know if that’s something I actual have but it has crossed my mind and I’m not sure how to go about that?

If it’s not blatant anorexia or bulimia, I think it would be best to talk to a psychiatrist or doctor who has experience. There are so many new eating disorders or at least the perspectives on them that have changed that there could be a lot of ways people have negative relationships with food and eating behaviors

I would say, if you have it, you would know. I had it for 10 years. Therapy and faith have helped, and Prozac. It’s been 33 years now since then

I struggled in middle school but no one really knew not even myself I don’t think until one day my doc at the time said “I was on the verge of an ED” so I never got diagnosed with it. now I’m 23 and just this past month started going right back into my old habits… in just 2 weeks I’ve lost 15 lbs. and have been going to the means of dirtying a dish when people go to bed, throwing the food away outside in the trash to make look like I have midnight snack and still eat even when I’m “not hungry” when they all eat because I don’t want anyone to become worried. I also can’t stop exercising, I don’t even know what to do at this point because no one in my life knows and it’s not technically on my medical records

I would talk to your doctor about the specifics of why your eating is disordered explain the anxiety behind losing weight such as what counting calories or if you're vomiting your food or exercising too much. That will help them to send you to a psychiatrist for better evaluation and treatment
