hello, i’m cody, and i have schizophrenia. i have an extremely early onset that has affected my development, no one in my state treats onsets this early so i’m going to have to spend a lot on treatment across the country. things are not looking too bright.

@AlPal1993 i’m definitely facing the stigma, my friend group at school make fun of me when i opened up to them, i try to help them understand with my art and diagrams but they keep calling themselves a “schitzo” and mocking my speech patterns and some delusions that slip out that i wasn’t aware were my brain’s filling in. and the one program in my state isn’t in my mom’s income bracket… i’m glad to hear you’ve survived almost 10 years with it, i’ve had brief hallucinatory and delusional symptoms as a small child, then the negative and delusional symptoms in early middleschool and having all of the symptoms from late middleschool to middle of high school present, i’m medicated with a pretty low dose single release antipsychotic.

I can relate to all of you guys. I didn’t have early onset by all means, I was about 19 years old but I was away at college and the only thing anybody would do for me was stick me in an emergency psychiatric hospital for a day until I cleaned myself up. Luckily once I withdrew from college and got home I was able to link up with a wonderful doctor who’s been with me since my diagnosis. I’m 28 now and from New York State. I’m sorry you’re having so much trouble finding treatment. We have such a neglected and stigmatized disease and it’s awful how treatment is not available everywhere for anyone who needs it

@PokeAdams wisconsin, they have no treatment for teens in my state so i’m going to have to fly down to florida this summer to join a program and hopefully get some stronger meds under the right supervision
