I'm going to drop out of high school. To put it short, I can't function with the way the school system functions. I know what I will do once I drop out and I think it'll work out. My dad is being kinder about it and has hope for me, but is clearly disappointed. My mom doesn't believe in me at all. Like AT ALL. It's very hard for me since I developed codependency issues from the way I was raised. I just need some encouragement. I'm confident with my choice, but it would really help if I didn't feel so ashamed of it and so dependent on parental validation. I just want someone to truly believe in me.

If you're confident in your decision, that is significant. You can't minimize your belief in yourself. I know that it is difficult (being codependent myself) but your belief in your self is even more important than anyone else's (including your parent's) opinions.

There’s no shame in dropping out of high school. There’s way too many people going to college right now just because they feel like they’re supposed to. I know plenty of people who dropped out and are doing just fine. You’re making the best decision for yourself and that’s all that matters

You're the one that needs to believe in you the most! Sure it helps a lot to have others believe in you, but ultimately it's your job to figure out how to do be there for yourself. It is possible because I've done it and you can do it too! I believe in you.
