i had a mood swing, some sort of episode and lashed out at my boyfriend. at the end of it i just felt numb and empty, i apologized to him before bed but still felt upset about it. how do i prevent things like this? are there any ways to ground my mood the moment i notice im getting emotional
Sometimes when I get to the point where I’m lashing out at someone, I don’t realise what/how I’m saying what I’m saying until I’ve already said it. If I catch myself being rude/ angry then I try to just stop and actually think for a second before I carry on with the conversation, if not sometime I have just to remove myself from the conversation until I or the other person are calmer or in a different frame of mind
Breaks. When I can get them. My spouse does not always give space for them and sometimes follows me through the house, angry that I am overwhelmed and not able to continue in the moment. If yours is not like this, utilize those breaks. They are vital and precious.
