Ok this is actually the first time ive even publicly talked about this i havent even brought it up to a doctor because im not sure how too and honestly im kind of embarrassed about it but i believe i have vaginismus? whenever anything goes up there it burns it doesnt feel good at all and ive always felt broken for it because its just not normal. i wanna know how to fix it or figure out whats wrong with me because ive always thought im asexual but i really think im not and its just because i have issues with sex because nothing will go up there (i hope this post is allowed because id love some advice or itd be nice to hear other people have this same problem so i wont feel as alone or broken)

I also have vaginismus! Also had a period of time where I thought I was ace because I wasn't enjoying sex. Now I enjoy it. I went to see a psychosexual therapist privately where she treated me using dilators and relaxation techniques (I live in the UK). Now I can have sex but need to take it slow and breathe and do my pelvic floor exercises as someone enters me, once it's in it's all good after that and I have a good time! Even if you seek treatment and you still have trouble with penetration, you can have an amazing sex life without penetration and you just need to do what feels good! A play called 'Skin a Cat' by Isley Lynn and a book called "My Broken Vagina" by Fran Bushe really helped me because I related to both of their experiences of vaginismus. Hope this helps x

Hey there! I was diagnosed with and have been treated for vaginismus. Also thought I was ace until I received treatment. Used to scream and/or faint from the pain when I tried and couldn't do pap tests for a long time either. I highly recommend a good pelvic floor therapist! They had me use medical dilators along with relaxation techniques to both slowly stretch the muscles and learn to relax the muscles as they go in. We also did some bio feedback tests and various types of stretches to relax the pelvic floor muscles. After doing well with the dilators, I was taught how to use a pelvic wand to better target tight pelvic floor muscles. If your insurance won't cover dilators or wands, I highly recommend the company Intimate Rose for these tools. I still need to insert slowly and focus on relaxing those muscles but after insertion (whether it's intercourse or a pap test speculum) it's no longer painful! So there's hope! One more note, the type of lubrication matters. I'm sensitive to everything except Sliquid Organics and my favorite brand is Aloe Cadabra. Please feel free to reach out if you have any more questions! I'm an open book about vaginismus because it's not talked about enough. Wishing you the best!

@DragonflyHKD thank you! Im honestly not sure if thats what i have because for me it feels like a burning sensation but it doesnt necessarily like... hurt? Is that a common thing with it or would that mean its something else?

Some people have found relief from similar symptoms by using intimate rose dilators, pelvic floor physical therapy, and muscle relaxers. Others have suggested seeking advice from a doctor or an OB who can diagnose the condition and provide appropriate referrals. It's also recommended to communicate openly with your partner about your limits and take things slow.
