TW: childhood sexual abuse When I was 12 I was raped repeatedly by someone who worked at my school and it's turned my life upside down. it has affected every facet of my life and has made basic functioning a nightmare. what I'm looking for feedback on though is that when I'm being sexual with a partner or by myself, I constantly get i trusive thoughts of my abuser's name or his face etc. and it can take things to a complete halt. How can I explain while I'm in a ~romantic engagement~ that I'm seeing me abuser and I feel like I'm going to die and I never want to have sex again..????

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

I also was a victim of CSA. Once I got my substance use disorder under control I started therapy. The type of therapy I've been doing is called CPT or Cognitive Processing Therapy and it has helped tremendously so far. CPT was created as a treatment focusing on overcoming PTSD. It has aspects of CBT and DBT tailored precisely for PTSD. I highly recommend.

I've never done EMDR, but it stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy. I've only ever heard good things about it. Hopefully you can get more answers here.

I am still suffering from an entire childhood and early adulthood CSA. ( Ages 5 - 23). What is EMDR? It has been mentioned several times, but I have never heard of it.
Hi friend! That traumatizing experience sounds extremely life altering; thank you for sharing that with us. I am also a CSA survivor. Iāve done EMDR and DBT and a lot of self work and itās helped a lot over time. Thatās the thing that sucks shit about trauma, right?āwe see so little change unless we traumatize ourselves again to heal. Iām proud to hear youāre doing some EMDR! It definitely helps. Keeping an honest and open line of communication with partners will be very valuable. I wanted to tell you too that a number of sex therapists out there are both very trans experienced/trans positive and trauma informed, and seeing one of those people specifically may help. There was a time where I didnāt want to have sex ever, EVER again but with time and resiliency (sucks that we have to have these) I am now getting married (?!?!) and feeling a lot more comfortable having regular sex. There is hope. I promise. Message me if youād like.

Be honest with your partner. If theyāre willing to listen, maybe thatās a sign that they are not your abuser. Also, it mustāve been difficult for you.
if you're close enough with your partner, you should probably talk to them about this. that way, if they're understanding enough, they can support you through this.
@teelay I am, and they do! it's still very difficult though. I'm lucky to have them:)
the only thing i can really suggest is going to a therapist informed on sex and sexual abuse facing your trauma and working through it is the only real way to heal from it
@fuzzyrat I've done EMDR and it's been a great help but I'll look into that too!
