i find myself constantly ruminating on the eventuality of my father's death, to the point of tears. he is my favorite person in the world and i wasted my late teens and all of my 20s on heroin and other hard drugs so back then i didn't know if I'd outlive him or not but now i know for pretty sure that he'll die before me. and, like, what am I going to do? he's the only one who really gets me. damn, I'm crying now.

Speaking as someone who has personally experienced the loss of their favorite parent, it is never easy… especially when you struggle with mental illness. The best thing that you can do is focus on the present moment and enjoy little times that you have with him now. If you spend all of your time worrying, then you are not creating memories and those are what will be most valuable. The sad reality of life is that we lose those we love… sometimes it takes awhile to rebuild and that’s okay. Try to be focused on your present instead of what if situations. You will be grateful for the little moments that you notice

I lost my aunt/second mom on the 8th and I regret not doing more things with her when I moved out in 2012. Go see a movie, go to the beach, have a lazy day at home, take a drive, anything that sounds fun. Live it up, friend! Our lives are waaay too short. ❤️
