Hey guys I was diagnosed with UC years ago and have been able to keep things in check with mesalamine. Then this past year I’ve had the worst flare up on an off and my doctor said I have Crohn’s instead. My ct scan showed a large blockage in my colon and my doctors said medication won’t help it and I need to get surgery. Have surgery booked for the 12th and super nervous. My doctor said they’re going to remove the area of blockage and put in a temporary ostomy for a couple of months and then try to reconnect. Was wondering if anyone has experienced this surgery and can give me any insights.

One person shared their experience of having resection surgery for multiple intestinal strictures and now has an ileostomy. They mentioned that the surgery was introduced as a last resort after trying every medication available. The surgery left them completely pain-free after many years of struggling with symptoms. Another person had two bowel resections along with numerous other surgeries, and eventually had to get an ileostomy bag when their colon stopped functioning properly. Yet another person had a colon resection in the winter of 2017.
