I thought my terrible fear of public speaking had really gone down and chilled out a bit since I've been more extroverted and social but I had to make a 5 minutes speech today that I was excited to do and it took me the rest of the day to recover from the fear. It only happens when I talk in front of audiences that are on a smaller scale though which is kind of confusing. Does anyone have any coping mechanisms to get through public speaking?

You could try mantras with your hands it's supposed to help you calm your mind and have more confidence in yourself or if that doesn't work you could try meditation

I've heard drinking chamomile tea before a speech helps some people. It didn’t for me but it's always worth a try.

One coping mechanism for public speaking anxiety is to practice in front of a group of friends you trust, as this can help boost your confidence. Another suggestion is to use quiet fidget toys or listen to music without words that invoke the same feeling you wish to convey in your speech. Remember that everyone else might be just as nervous, and they are unlikely to judge you harshly for any anxiety you experience during your presentation. Confidence can change everything, so try to believe in yourself and your abilities as a speaker.
