I'm stressed. I just recently graduated high-school and now I need to figure out what I'm doing with my life. I need a job to support me and my fiancé but I can't find one. I wasn't planning on going to college but now I feel like I have to, to be able to find a good job. But college is so expensive, so I don't know what to do. we are also wanting to move out of my family's house and be on our own but that's expensive as well. I know where thing takes time but I feel as soon as something goes right 10 more things go wrong. like recently we were told that his baby brother(14) is going to be a father or that abortion was banned and soon they will come after lgbtq+ rights since that has been passed. I just want to know when life will work in our favor? (sorry for the long vent)

I'm sorry all this going on, but it'll be ok. Have you thought about a trade school (plumber, electrician, cosmetologist/hair stylist, etc)?

Try gig work (UberEats). It pays pretty decently and you'll meet lots of interesting people. The best part is that you can work when you want to. Human interaction is necessary, but not mandatory.

@MrsB3922 I have to get my driver license. When I first got my car I was driving without it and now I own like 350 dollar to the dps. I hate how everything is about money now

@AhegaoNerd Make getting your license an immediate goal and that will allow you to drive, which will expand your world on the daily.

Apprenticeship programs are great. They have on the job training. My son is 22. He is in his 3rd year in electrician Apprenticeship and is making good money now. He is a newlywed and his wife is in a dental assistant Apprenticeship and loves it. I know the world can feel harsh and dark at times. Never stop believing in yourself. ♡

@Stripe I would love to be a tattoo artists apprentice. But I would have to take a class (that cost $3500) which I'm going to as soon as possible but still

I wouldn't go to college because you don't know what else to do with your life- especially at a large state school you are not going to get the support you actually need to be successful. I teach at a large state school and see a lot of students fall through the cracks because they are completely unsure. Find a small school where advisors can actually help you navigate your interests or work for a little bit. There is no rush to go to college and if you aren't prepared then you are wasting time and money to be there

@chronicchemist thank you. I was looking at online schooling bc it would be easier with my fiancé work schedule

Have you looked into community college? Cheaper and can get a job with a degree from it. I'm sorry you're having a rough time. If you need to vent more and talk, feel free to reach out. ❤️

@truly.caroline yeah I have looked but the classes I want are still to much money but thank you so much

I understand how you feel. There is so much pressure when you are young to know what you want to do right away. You don't know until you try. I have worked in everything from veterinary care to policing to mental health care. There is no rush to fine what you want. If your not sure about college you can wait or try one or two classes to see if it's for you. If you are not sure what job field you are interested just try some things. It can be hard to find a job sometimes but don't get discouraged.

@Kendra363 but I do know what I want to do. It just hard to get started. I would love to be a tattoo artist. I have accepted that it will be a while before that happens but for now I want something I'm going to enjoy.

McDonald's or gas stations are always hiring. I ended up going back to McDonald's for financial reasons. I even worked two jobs literally back to back. I ended up with a job moving bags and supporting where needed from Grill to Service. Basically I get paid to do what I've been doing my life spent these last 7 years or so Retail/ Food Service jobs combo for me.

I have but even that would cost me a pretty penny that I don't have right now.

@Solarwolf i work in CNC machining. it can be hard to get in with no experience but if you learn how to use some basic measuring tools a lot of shops are willing to train, and in a good shop the work won’t be too strenuous.
