Adult autistic people, what treatments have you experienced in adulthood, and what has been helpful/what would you not recommend? I am diagnosed level 1 and have low support needs-- my support needs mostly have to do with iADLs like getting/preparing food for myself, completing "adulting" tasks like paperwork and phone calls, and being consistent with my hygiene. I also have strong aversions to sensory- or other overwhelm-- elopement and speech loss, and could certainly do with an improvement in motor skills... I'm in the process of trying to get into a skill building program for some of these struggles, but I'm wondering what other type(s) of therapy or other services might be beneficial for these needs, possibly things that might not be marketed for autism specifically, and so I might not know about. "Acceptance is key. Never try to become less autistic, but try to learn about yourself and what helps you in certain situations. Occupational therapy can be helpful for motor skills. Finding a CBT therapist that is neurodiversity affirming is also recommended. However, it's advised not to do ABA therapy."
