On Thursday I start my training to be an Orientation Leader at my college and then following that I will be spending a week as an OL for 32 students on my campus. I am incredibly nervous and anxious and can’t stop thinking about it as I move back in on Thursday. I am such an introvert and feel underprepared to be “out there”, like so many other extroverts on the same job, and feel nervous about single-handedly leading a group of 32 students when i’m usually quiet and anxious. I have very bad social anxiety and OCD, which is why i’m obsessing over the thought of doing this so much. I took the experience because I thought it would push me out of my comfort zone but it’s all I can think about leading up to it. I am sort of excited to meet all the new people but the thought of going through everything associated with it is causing me immense anxiety. I have three more days before i go but i can’t stop thinking about it, any advice on what to do or how to stop constantly worrying? :/

Although it may seem impossible, try to change your outlook. Try journaling and affirmations like “I am so grateful for this opportunity. I am a strong leader” Journaling and CBT also helped me a lot. Overall, I think you’ll do great. If you’re anything like me, the scariest part is getting there. Once you start, you’ll be golden :)
