I have severe BPD and was recently diagnosed. I’m a senior in highschool and my whole life I’ve struggled with friends. And tbh it’s gotten so much worse. Idk how to handle my emotions. It feels like I have to beg people to be my friends. Any advice?

i have the same problem.. making friends or maintaining friendships. just because i feel like i’m so different and can’t connect to people on the level i want to. something that helped me was making friends online (bumble, tinder, hinge, whatever it may be). journaling actually helps a lot for me too. sometimes it can be too much and overwhelms me, but i always try to journal when i feel really strongly about something. especially when it comes to relationships. i would always try to journal about a page before i went to my ex about something so he wouldn’t have to deal with another episode bc i have a fear of being a burden. teaching your friends, family, s/o (if u have one) about bpd can be helpful too. it can teach them why you’re acting a certain way and helps them be more understanding idk if any of this helps but i hope you’re doing okay. you deserve to have friends that love and care for you. you will find them in time 🙏

If you have to beg ppl to be friends.. better focus your energy on something else, honestly. Trust me, it took me a long time but when i stopped trying to keep up with people who didnt give a shit about me i started attracting ppl who actually did, and who genuinly want to help me get better. My main advice for you is just to try and find yourself. Find things that describe you, what you enjoy, what really gets you excited, and then focus on being true to yourself. Say what you want to and eventually the right ppl will find you. Ik it sounds cliche and it will take a LONG time but if you keep struggling, its probably cuz youre masking and trying to be someone youre not The right people wont turn away at a rage episode - they wont abandon you for weird behavior, in fact they might just join you in it You got this man, i believe in you

@Elianah I second that. I wish I started 20 years ago when I was diagnosed.
