how do y'all deal with being bipolar at work? do you state you have a disability? do you disclose it? people have many biases so it's not always great when revealing.

I've told a couple people I trust (2 managers) at my current job, but I normally do not disclose my diagnoses at my job because it's my legal right (HIPPA). I've also noticed the few times i HAVE told managers, they treat me very different than everyone else.

I don't disclose to my workplace because I've been in environments where people get discriminated against for it šŸ˜„ So I'm really weary

I told my boss about all my conditions including bipolar when I first started working. I didn't want to hide it so that I'd be able to ask for help if needed. I don't think we should be ashamed, everyone has their own shit..

I was diagnosed years ago and I am pretty balanced right now. Therefore I don't tell anyone from work about the disease. I just don't want them to think I'm weird or mentally not ok.

i do try to inform my coworkers and managers because i tend to lash out or act extremely boisterous (when iā€™m manic). they usually donā€™t understand and most likely think itā€™s just an excuse. however, i only reveal that info when necessary as i donā€™t feel comfortable telling people. :)

Usually you can state you have a disability when applying to jobs, thereā€™s a qrand list of disabilities listed) but when hiring managers review applications they donā€™t see what specific disability because you simply check the ā€œyes I have one of the disabilities listedā€ box. Now if you are currently working, idk how you would bring it forward other then working with Your HR department and seeing what accommodations they may have
