I'm really struggling with what I want to do compared to what I am able to do. I used to be extremely independent and now I need a lot of help. The depression kicks in and worsens my Fibro symptoms. Sometimes I feel like I'm in an unbreakable cycle. Does anyone else experience this?

What works for me is to set goals I can attain. Small goals normally. Things like brushing my teeth, taking vitamins, walking when I don’t feel bad, etc. even if it is the dumbest thing to put on a check list I will add it. Then I can start changing my mindset to what I can do, instead of what I can’t. That has helped.

Yeah I am in the same boat. I've mostly been quite fit and physically active, so having restrictions and not being strong enough to do things is a challenge. I'll share some advice that has been helping me: "don't should on yourself" (read it aloud to help haha). Part of this for me is altering my expectations so I'm not "shoulding" on myself. The "I should work out, I should be able to do x, I should be more independent" etc. As a fiercely independent person this is also really hard for me. I hate asking for help, but I'm trying to reframe, so that it isn't bad thing; it is just different. I also don't have to do things alone. Having more realistic expectations for myself and not "shoulding" all over the place has helped me a lot the last week so hopefully it helps you too!

I am so tired of the daily struggle and not being able to do anything anymore. I feel like my body has given up.

This is almost the topic a FB Friend and I were writing about today. These are concerns of thousands everyday. As the years go by you will become more used to modifying your motions. I always write to consult an Occupational Therapist if you have the means to do so.

You have to take it one day at a time. Once you get your mental state in check and let your ego get outta of the way then you will be more accepting of what you are going through. It take alot of work and time. It took me about 3 years to get it together and I'm 10 years into having fibromyalgia. But through therapy, prayer, meditation and the help of loved ones I made it thus far.
