I just started taking 50mg of Zoloft/Sertraline a couple days ago. The plan is to switch over from Effexor because the side effects have been killing me. But I was wondering, are chapped lips a symptom of Zoloft? Ever since the morning after I took my first dose I’ve had swollen, cracked, bright red lips and they burn and itch under the skin. I’ve been applying lip balm and oil like crazy but it’s not getting better.

@Bridgette Like you said you will be switching to another medication soon because of this side affect. So hopefully the next medication will be right for you 🤗

Yeah, that sounds like it can be an allergic reaction or angioedema.

Ummm that pretty much is something to tell your doctor and probably not continue taking the medication. Who wants to deal with cracked chapped lips?

@Bridgette I’m talking to my psychiatrist asap! I got kinda freaked out googling the symptoms and called poison control lmao😭 they told me it’s most likely a minor allergic reaction so luckily it’s nothing dangerous and I’ll just be able to stop taking it. But it’s so frustrating trying all these meds over the years with no results😅

@Slater that is frustrating but if you believe that medication will help you . You just have to keep going and be persistent with your doctor with how you feel . Don't keep going with a medicine that isn't working like sorry but like duh a little bit. We already having mental illness don't wanna go ahead and feel more awful on the wrong medicine. Everyone has a different brain and body so one medication isn't fit for everyone :)
