Hey guys, as someone who needs headphones to focus, my math teacher won't let me. I've been getting Cs on tests. I understand the material, and I know what i'm doing, but im performing bad on tests thanks to the inability to focus. Any advice?

see if your school will accommodate you, or maybe see if they have a testing room where you can go by yourself to test? it would help if your parents and/or doctor helped speak up for you needing the accommodations

But if your a regular ed than just have your parents talk to them about it, it might help and if not I hear some parents make a scene.

If your a special ed than you should have accomodations and if your not getting them than you should go to the school counselor or the main office. I only know because when I was still in school I was a sped so I know, and if you can't focus a para should take you to a quieter room to do any test or quizzes at all. You should be able to retake those those test and quizzes with a para he/she will read them out loud if you want them to. They will cross off 1-2 questions so it can be easer if you ask and so on. Either way you should be treated the way you need to be so you can focus. ☺️

If you have been diagnosed, try talking to your doctor about it. They can give you a note that says that being allowed to listen to music in class will help you perform better. It can't say what condition you have, but that is a surefire way to be allowed to listen to music in all classes. Whatever you do, make sure that you give one copy to the school and keep one copy for yourself. That way the school can't "lose" it, or if they do, you can make a copy of yours and bring them a new one.

@Entropyluna If you haven't been diagnosed, try talking to a school guidance counselor or even the principal. Make sure that you're prepared when you do, and come in with a list of reasons why it will help you and a list of the times that you would be listening to music. If you can listen to music with one earbud, it may be worth offering to only have one earbud in. If you have headphones, that might not work as well.

Will she let you go in the hall? I had a teacher let me bring a desk into the hall to do school work there instead of in the class.
