Dealing with Sensory Overload in School

loop brand earplugs are so so good for sound based sensory issues

I love Loop earplugs!!! I have the “quiet” ones, but I actually can’t really hear with those so for school I’d maybe recommend the “experience” ones so it just softens the sound.

Talk to your school and see if you can get accommodations. Sunglasses, headphones or earplugs, being able to leave class for a few minutes, and so much more could be so beneficial to you! LOOP earplugs are supposed to be great too! They filter sound but don’t block it out totally!

I will chime in that I also listen to music! Replace bad sounds with good sounds!!

Earplugs help me so much!

listening to music with drums/distinct rhythms helps me a lot. also I just got this product called “Flare Audio: Calmer” they’re these little devices you wear in your ears (kinda like ear plugs but way more subtle) that are supposed to soften sounds and make them more tolerable for people with sensory difficulties. I haven’t tried them yet but they seem really promising and are only like $25.

For me I would usually listen to music on my phone, sit where there wasn’t a lot of people,or just try to focus on my work. I was also allowed to leave my classrooms for a few minutes due to my 504 plan maybe try talking to school counselors and see if they can help you out
