I recently started taking Strattera/Atomoxetine, but haven't noticed any results. This is the first medication I've ever taken for ADHD, so I'm not sure if it's common to start with a non stimulant. I assumed that stimulants were usually the go to. Anyone have experience with this med or have an opinion on stimulants vs non stimulants?

Stimulant helped me so much! On Concerta Xr. I was on a non stimulant but it actually made me tired and so sluggish lol.

Hi, I took it for the past 4 years. In my opinion, it has more efficacy than stimulant drugs. I had a few side effects like dry mouth and sometimes dizziness, but it didn’t last for long.

I took strattera for 10 years. It does take awhile to take full affect. I found that taking it at night, made it so I actually slept, not napping ( less than 4 hours of sleep). And I woke up in the morning actually able to function. It is a good alternative to stimulants. But one major down fall I had was it raised my blood sugars 100 points, sorry I'm diabetic too, so the doctor took me off of it. But while I was on it, I was able to work and go to school. Once it takes full affect you will like the results.

It's going to take a lot faster because it is a non stimulant

A few years ago, I took Strattera. I remember it took a month until it was effective. My doctor explained that it is normal and can take even six weeks to reach a maximal effect.

Mak, my dr started me at 10mg the 1st week, 20mg the 2nd week, and then 40mg which I've been taking for over 2 weeks. I read that it can take 6-8 weeks to see changes, but I don't really know what to consider my starting point haha. But I have a follow up in about a month so I'm hoping to see a difference by then.

I've been taking it for about a month now and I'm also taking lithium with it so it does take awhile for it start working and I didn't notice anything either if you have any questions I would talk to your doctor about upping the does or trying something else but It all depends on how long you have been taking it
